Submission Guidelines

Who can submit information to the Living Well website?

 The Living Well with Chronic Conditions in Washington State website’s primary audience is individuals in governmental agencies, tribes, health care organizations and nonprofit agencies working to with persons with chronic conditions and the aging population, to promote better health and self-management. Living Well  encourages submissions from organizations working in these areas  and is based or has a significant presence in the State of Washington.

Submissions from organizations whose work is not directly related to aging or chronic conditions and not  based in or without a significant presence in the State of Washington will not be accepted on this portal. These organizations are encouraged to submit their information other places on the Web.

What type of information is not accepted?

The  Living Well  Web Portal will not:

  • Accept advertising
  • Promote commercial, for-profit products and services
  • Promote alternative medicines, those that are used in place of, rather than in complement to, conventional medicine. For more information about this distinction, please visit the National Institutes of Health’s National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, at http://nccam.nih.gov/health/whatiscam/
  • Promote cures for chronic diseases or miracle anti-aging products or other misinformation
  • Publish material that constitutes or involves any unlawful activity including but not limited to: discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color, sex, age, national origin, marital status, religion, disability, sexual orientation or veteran’s status; harassment, sexual or otherwise; or copyright infringement.

Links to external resources are provided as a public service, and do not imply endorsement by the Washington State Diabetes Network or the Washington State Department of Health. Because Living Well with Chronic Conditions in Washington State is hosted by the Washington State Department of Health, the Department of Health’s policy for linking to external resources applies, and includes, but is not limited to, the following restrictions:

  • Links to sites that constitute or advocate unlawful activities.
  • Links to entities that have a political advocacy component.
  • Links to "commercial" sites intended to promote or sell a service or product.

The Department of Health’s Web Guidelines Exception Process must be used to gain approval prior to posting links that fall under the above restrictions.

What happens after information is submitted?

All submissions are reviewed prior to being posted on the  Living Well  Web Portal. If a submission does not meet the guidelines, the Living Well Web Portal reserves the right to reject or remove content, at any time, without explanation. When possible, reviewers will communicate with submitters to bring their submissions in line with the guidelines.  Incomplete submissions will not be accepted.

After submission, individuals can expect to hear within two weeks if their submission has been posted, if it requires revision, or if it will not be accepted. Submitters will be asked to review the content they have posted at least once every six months to keep information up to date. These will also be reviewed prior to posting.

What else do I need to know to submit information on the Living Well website?

Individuals posting information to the Living Well  Web Portal are responsible for the accuracy of information entered into the web portal.

While all content submitted will be reviewed prior to posting, those maintaining the site are not responsible for editing or correcting typos or errors.

For organizations who meet this criteria the following guidelines should be used in submitting information:

  • Use simple and direct language
  • Enter key words so that visitors can search the database and find information easily
  • Spell out acronyms, and avoid using them if possible.
  • Provide information useful for other organizations
  • Do not include information that is out of date, and update information as soon as possible, but at least once every 6 months.
  • Provide contact information and, where appropriate, a link to your organization’s Web site
