Tomando Control Leader Training in Central Oregon
Living Well partners and colleagues, We have selected dates for our Tomando Control Leader Training in Central Oregon this fall, November 5, 6, 7, 8 from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm each day at the Becky Johnson Center, 412 SW 8th St., in Redmond.

Tomando Control de su Salud program is one of the three chronic disease self-management programs developed at Stanford University. The program is the Spanish version of the Living Well with Chronic Conditions program. Subjects covered are similar to the English version, but they are presented in ways that are culturally appropriate. All workshops are given in Spanish without translators. The workshops are designed for people who live with chronic health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, asthma, etc. Two trained leaders, often with have chronic conditions themselves, facilitate the 2 1/2 hr workshop for 6 weeks.
The training itself will take place on November 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 am to 4:30 pm each day. Trainees must complete all 4 days of training. Location will be the Becky Johnson Center in Redmond. Trainees must attend the 4 day training and be prepared to co-lead at least one workshop within the first year of taking the training. Potential leaders need not have health background or teaching experience. There is no cost for the leader training. Currently we are able to pay our trained leaders a stipend for facilitating the 6 week workshop series, once they are trained.
