Information & Assistance - "Staying Independent" Fair

Information and Assistance – “Staying Independent” Fair: Senior Information and Assistance and Olympic Area Agency on Aging Nursing Services are hosting a free “Staying Independent” Fair on Thursday Oct. 28, 2010, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at River of Life Fellowship, 308 W. King Street, Aberdeen. The fair will include professional guest speakers, representatives from the Aberdeen Fire Department; clinics and exhibits, including information on services for older adults and persons with disabilities, with a focus on staying independent and preventing falls. A SHIBA (Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisor) will also be available to answer questions. Free drawing gifts have been donated by businesses in the community. Lunch will be provided; so come and enjoy a fun-filled, educational day. Come for a short visit or stay all day. If you have any questions please call 1-866-582-1487 or (360) 538-2457.

Information and Assistance – “Staying Independent” Fair: Senior Information and Assistance and Olympic Area Agency on Aging Nursing Services are hosting a free “Staying Independent” Fair on Thursday Oct. 28, 2010, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at River of Life Fellowship, 308 W. King Street, Aberdeen. The fair will include professional guest speakers such as Dr John Bausher Family Practice, Dr John Miller Neurologist, Dr. Jessica Pierce Medical Director of the Grays Harbor Wound Clinic, Jennifer Ammons, attorney with the NW Justice Program, Mike Bradrick with Heritage Woodworks. Kathy Jones, I&A Specialist and Statewide Health Insurance Benefits (SHIBA) advisor, and Lori Lauffman, YMCA, as well as representatives from the Aberdeen Fire Department; clinics and exhibits, including information on services for older adults and persons with disabilities, with a focus on staying independent and preventing falls. Clinics will include orthostatic blood pressure checks, blood glucose testing, fall risk assessment, strength and balance testing, footwear assessment, medication "brown bag"(bring a complete list of your medications for review by a pharmacist), a SHIBA (Statewide Health Insurance Benefits Advisor) will also be available to answer questions, and the S.A.I.L. (Staying Active and Independent for Life) exercise program. Several free drawing gifts have been donated by businesses in the community.
